The seized contraband, 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, were to be distributed in Delhi-NCR ahead of the festive season, the Special Cell of Delhi Police said after arresting four men during a raid at a godown of a publishing house in South Delhi's Mahipalpur on Tuesday.

Delhi Police on Wednesday busted an international drug syndicate and seized 560 kg of cocaine. The cocaine is worth more than ₹ 2,000 crore and said to be the biggest drug bust ever seen in the city.

In August, a central intelligence agency informed Delhi Police about a cocaine-smuggling cartel, prompting three months of surveillance and a seizure.

The cocaine was smuggled into Delhi by road from various States and the marijuana was brought in through the aerial route from Phuket, Thailand, confirmed police. The police also said that the accused traded in cryptocurrency to avoid detection by law enforcement agencies.

The alleged mastermind of the operation, Tushar Goyal was the chairman of the RTI cell of the Delhi Pradesh Congress, police sources said.
