Deidre Hall is speaking out about the late Drake Hogestyn, the man she starred alongside for decades on Days of Our Lives. Hogestyn, who portrayed John Black opposite Hall’s Marlena, died Saturday of pancreatic cancer.

Hogestyn first began playing John Black on Days of Our Lives in 1986. During the soap opera, his character fell in love with Dr. Marlena Evans (Hall). The fan-favorite romance went on to receive the Soap Opera Digest Award for Favorite Couple in 2005.

Deidre Hall is paying tribute to her longtime Days of Our Lives costar, Drake Hogestyn. The John Black actor died on September 28 of complications from pancreatic cancer. Together, Hall and Hogestyn made up the Days supercouple that is John Black and Marlena Evan. The two had been costars since 1986.
