I went out to pick up some RV toilet paper and while walking through the store I noticed "septic safe" toilet paper over where the regular stuff is. Septic safe is a much better deal, (and looks like it's always in stock) so I'm just wondering if anyone has used it, and has it caused any issues.

Septic safe brands should all be ok, but you can help if you avoid all the fancy TP types, e.g. quilted, perfumed, colored, etc. All of those are made with sturdier paper to survive the extra production processes and typically do not dissolve as quickly or completely as plain white paper.

I have a niece that did a school paper testing toilet paper years ago for break down in water, including rv paper, and Angel Soft was best. We’ve used Angel soft ever since, first because we have a septic system, and now in the rv.

WEBAug 17, 2022 · We've been using Scott's single ply paper in the house and motorhome for years. The only paper I wouldn't use in an RV, is two ply extra thick pillowy type paper. It's just too thick. There has been a simple test for years. Take a jar full of water, add a couple of sheets of TP and shake. RV safe paper will disintegrate in a few seconds.

She put two sheets of TP in a Mason jar full of water. She then put a cap on the jar and shook it. If the TP breaks up in water it is safe for a holding tank.

We've never had any problems-we bag the paper in can with lid. -Paper takes up room. -No additional worries with just waste going into tank. -Buy whatever brand paper you choose (save money). BTW-we do the same with the septic system at sticks-n-bricks.
